Hello World, Welcome again to the penetration testing parlor, in here i am going to give you a heads up on what we shall be talking about in this chapter. In this chapter we shall be doing much because that is the core of this blog.

Before we go far what is Penetration Testing?.This is the process of testing a system for any vulnerabilities that a hacker can exploit.
We have 5 core stages of penetration testing:-

  • Information Gathering (Knowing your target is extremely important).
  • Reconnaissance.
  • Threat modelling and vulnerability identification.
  • Exploitation (fun part).
  • Reporting.
That is just a tip of the iceberg. But first we need the right gear to dive in deep.

Setup Phase.

  1. installing Kali Linux Operating system on a machine
  2. Installing Kali Linux Operating system on a virtual machine
  3. Installing Various Tools of Work on our Kali Installation.
  4. Configuring SSH
  5. Setting up a VNC Server on your Kali Linux machine
That's all for the setup phase. Because at times we don't need physical access to you machine just the ssh and vnc does it all for example Hash Cracking.

Penetration Testing Phase.

In this particular phase, we shall be looking on what we should have and what we need to have the penetration testing process efficient. So below they are.
  • Installing Virtual-box on you Kali Linux machine.
  • installing tor for anonymity purposes.
For now this are the must haves during this phase. As we will be starting from a beginner level to a more advanced level.

Device Requirements.

Well Well Well, We all know that efficiency comes with good tools of trade. Yeap it does no doubt in that. Okay lets dive in.:-
  1. A Working laptop or a Working Desktop.
  2. Not less than 8 GB of RAM(virtual box uses this alooooot!)
  3. At least a core i3 6th Generation processor should work fine.
These Requirements are the majors in here. For now as you finish this post starting gearing up slowly by slowly because its gonna be an interesting Tech journey. Thats all for now.

Stay Tuned for The Setup Phase. ADIOS!
